Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of days you will have probably seen images surfacing online of a PlayStation 4 Slim model. Originally thought to be a fake by less-optimistic gamers, but recently confirmed as legit with an unboxing video appearing on YouTube.
For those especially excited about new hardware reveals, you can watch the 6 minute video below … for everyone else, here’s the TL;JG
The updated – slimmer – console comes packaged with a Dual Shock 4 controller, which now sports a slim lightbar stretching the length of the front touch pad. The console itself retains the same displaced slant of the original PS4, however the top of console is significantly thinner. The lightbar has been removed from the top, as has the optical out socket. Major improvements appear to be the power and eject buttons, which are easily located on the front and are now shaped differently to avoid accidental mixups. Access to the HDD is now from the rear of the console, with a cover which can be removed, allowing for upgrades.
PlayStation are yet to formally acknowledge the console, something they had no doubt planned for the upcoming PlayStation meeting on September 7.
We can’t wait to see what else Sony come out with next month!
